On the Road

I decided a while ago that I should keep some kind of a travel diary to keep track of the places I've been and people I've met. Of course as always these things take a while for me to get around to, but here it is.

I've even started carrying a camera around with me. Some day I may start using it to take photographs.

  • March 30 - April 7 1999. My road trip to New Orleans to Convergence V was typical of the kind of things that tend to happen to me on trips. Mostly breakdowns.

  • July 2 - 7 1999. My friend silentq and I have made quite a few trips together. This is the story of the one we made to DragonCon in Atlanta.
You can also check out her version version of the events.

  • May 20 - June 4 2000 Convergence VI in Seattle. Because we never wish it to be said that we learn from our mistakes.

  • February 22 2003 This wasn't a trip for me, but it was for a whole bunch of people who came to Toronto to help me celebrate my birthday.

  • April 17 - May 4 2003 Convergence IX in Las Vegas. And lo, my faith in road trips is restored.

  • September 12 - 15 2004 Axel and I went camping in Lake Superior. Really only of interest if you dig trees and rocks.

  • October 8 - 17 2004 A group of us headed to Charlotte to see a friend wrestle. Yes, wrestle. Axel and I made an entire southern holiday out of it.

  • January 15 - 21 2005 Axel won an acheiver's award at his work, and they sent us to a week long conference in Puerto Rico. It was pretty amazing. Like "being on another planet" kind of amazing.

  • July 2 2005 This is another one of these cases where I didn't travel, but a whole bunch of other people did. We decided to have a pigroast for Axel's birthday party this year. It was so much fun we're going to do it again.

  • September 1-11 2005 Our good friend Xthlc got married to the love of his life in northern Maine and we went to the party. As well as being an excuse for a celebration, it was also the perfect opportunity to head into the Canadian maritimes.

  • February 14-25 2006 BC and I celebrated our tenth anniversary by going to Italy for ten days. It was my first trip ever to continental Europe.

  • June 17 2006 Pigroast II. Let's face it, we just like having parties.

  • August 6-8 2006 Since house renovations mean that Axel and I never have any money these days, we've taken to going on short holidays close to home. You don't get much closer than Kingston.

  • September 2-10 2006 Axel and I go to Summer Sizzle and then try to go camping in Michigan.

  • May 16-June 2 2007 Axel and I drove all the way to Portland, OR to go to Convergence XIII and have adventures along the way.

  • June 16 2007 Pigroast III: Bride of Pigroast

  • November 6-13 2007 BC takes me to Haiti with her.
