Here are all of the official Convergence IV events (and a few
non-official ones) that took place over the course of the weekend.
- Nancy Baker & Nancy Kilpatrick reading at
Savage Garden, 550 Queen St.
West
- A special pre-C4 reading by Canada's two top gothic/vampire authors also
featured some spooky tunes for the shaking of gothic booty. Not an "official"
Convergence event, but a perfect start to the weekend for those who came to town
early.
2:00
& 4:00 PM (two sittings) - Victorian Afternoon Tea and Gift Swap at The
Royal York Hotel
- A chance to meet fellow net.goths in the somewhat more relaxed and refined
atmosphere of the Royal York Hotel Victorian tea room. Fancy
dress was by no means required, but many of the participants
outdid themselves with their lovely outfits. The gift swap
also allowed those who chose to participate to go home with a
unique souvenier of the weekend.
- 9:00 PM - Dancing & Hellos at The Opera House
- The first night of Convergence featured groovy tunes spun by DJs Greg
Clow and Michael Salo, and a live performance by Toronto's goth
legends Masochistic Religion. For more info, check out the Bands & DJs page.
In addition, there was
a prize give-away and a vendor's market featuring the following
merchants;
- Beautiful fashions by Atrocities
Clothing and Accessories from Salem, MA.
- Lovely clothing by Desire
Clothing Company out of Hamilton, Ontario.
- Gothic/electronic/ethereal/ambient music from Toronto's
Plan 11.
- Handmade hats by Toronto's Retro-G.
- Custom-made corsets by Toronto's Starkers.
- Stonework (gargoyles, Celtic crosses, etc.) by Toronto's
Urban Archeology
- and gorgeous jewelery by Valkyrie Fine Art and Jewelry.
- 12:00 midnight - The Scavenger Hunt begins!
- 3:00 PM - Canadian National Exhibition
- A goth outing to The EX!!!! Cotton candy, rides and rollercoasters,
exhibits, games, horses, many opportunities to frighten small
children, and the Hall of Food! What more could you ask for?
- 9:00 PM - Live Bands at The Opera House
- A glorious evening of heavenly voices and music from Faith & The
Muse, Rhea's Obsession, The Changelings and My Scarlet
Life, as well as between band bliss provided by DJ Marylace. For
more info, check out the Bands & DJs page.
- Late Night Fetish Masquerade - Club Shanghai, 247 Spadina Ave.
- After the "official" Saturday night fun at The Opera House, those
who still felt the urge to mingle (or, um, do "other" stuff) headed
on over to this "gothic/industrial/ethereal kinky glamour party",
where C4 laminate holders were admitted for half off the regular cover charge.

- 2:30 PM - Tour of Casa Loma
- A castle in the middle of the city? Why, yes. Complete with gothic style
architecture, secret passageways and tunnels, and exquisite gardens and stables.
This tour was a highlight of the weekend, and many pictures were taken.
- 6:00 PM - Dinner at Mövenpick Marche
- A truly unique dining experience, Marche is a combination restaurant and
market where customers stroll about and select their food from a wide variety of
fresh and yummy options.
- 8:00 PM - Scavenger Hunt ends
- 9:00 PM - Dancing & Goodbyes at Clinton's
- Tearful goodbyes, a live performance by Toronto swirl-pop trio An April
March, plus gothic DJ royalty Lady Bathory and
Lord Pale upstairs, and dark electronic & industrial with DJs Antithesis,
Tapestry and Greg Clow downstairs - check out the Bands & DJs page for more info.
- 9:00 PM - "Babygoth" Gathering at Catacombs (downstairs at
Sanctuary), 732 Queen St. West
- Not an "official" C4 presentation, but since our Sunday night
event was a 19+ affair, we suggested this all ages night at
Toronto's (in)famous "vampire sex bar" as an alternative
destination for all underage attendees. Open 'til 6 AM, they also played host to
those who wanted to squeeze in just a little more dancing
after the festivities at Clinton's.
